Historic Royal Oak

Talk Back

October 27, 2001

Mr. Penney;

You probably don't remember me, but I shot some photos of you at the Royal Oak Cemetery years ago for Insight Magazine.

I wanted to let you know how much pleasure I found in reading your web site about Royal Oak. I read Royal Oak Twigs and Acorns" many years ago and was fascinated by the old photos, history and colorful characters that represent Royal Oak's History.

I was never a resident of Royal Oak, but I have been a Royal Oak Police Officer for 30 years (retired in 2000) and the city holds a special place in my heart. Royal Oak is a part of me, and always will be.

Your efforts to record, preserve and bring these historical facts to the public is terrific!

The R.O. Cemetery facts really interest me, the stories and photos in your web site bring home the real history of the people. I developed a new respect for those old pioneers, what they endured, and what they contributed to the community and the country.

Thank you again for bringing this wonderful history of our community to the world.

Steve Gold
