CO Dangers, Dr. D. Penney
Furnace Dangers:
Factors that tend to Decrease CO in the Breathing Space:
- Large breathing volume
- Low CO input rate
- "Looseness" of boundary walls (high air changes per hour value)
- Decreased CO concentration in outside air
- Decreased human exhalation of CO generated by metabolism of heme compounds, halogenated methanes, etc.
- Human metabolism of CO -----> CO2
- Decreased altitude, increased atmospheric pressure
- CO scrubbers, if present
