CO Dangers, Dr. D. Penney

Furnace Dangers:

Factors that tend to Increase CO in the Breathing Space:

  • Small breathing volume

  • High CO input rate

  • "Tightness" of boundary walls (low air changes per hour value)

  • Increased CO concentration in outside air

  • Increased human exhalation of CO generated by metabolism of heme compounds, halogenated methanes, etc.

  • Increased altitude, decreased atmospheric pressure
