Blood Velocity

v = V/A, .... where: v = mean velocity
............................. V = volume flow per sec.
............................. A = cross-sectional area

e.g. For aorta, if
............................. V = 100 ml/sec. & A = 3 cm2
............................. v = 100/3 = 33.3 cm/sec.

Note: This assumes flow is as a cylinder, rather than as a parabaloid, which it is.
