CHANGING PUMP CONDITIONS:

Changing end-diastolic volume, with constant afterload: using diastolic reserve volume (seen in athletes, congestive heart failure, aortic insufficiency).

Observed in:

  • Aortic insufficiency
  • venoconstriction
  • increased blood volume

    Results in:

  • increased EDV
  • increased SV
  • increased stroke work
