Atrial fibrillation: The impulses take chaotic, random pathways in the atria (Figure 25). Since neither P waves nor flutter waves exist, no rate can be determined. The baseline is coarsely or finely irregular, while the ventricular response (QRS) is irregular, and slow or rapid.
