CO Support: Survey Study of Chronic CO Poisoning

Recommendations:

  • Should be a concerted public awareness campaign to highlight the dangers and symptoms of chronic CO poisoning.

  • Improved COHb testing. Newly available non-invasive breath tests for CO should be carried out routinely on those with suspicion of chronic CO poisoning.

  • Raised awareness by the medical profession of the symptoms, testing and treatment of chronic CO poisoning.

  • Research into the longterm effects of chronic CO poisoning, and a cure sought for the consequences of tiredness and pain.

  • A series of trials by general practice physicians to establish the true extent of the longterm sub-lethal exposure to CO.

  • Comprehensive and reliable collection of statistics relating to CO poisoning and deaths.

  • Improved training and enforcement of standards in the installation and ervicing of appliances.
